5 more days of summer… time to log those books!

Hi Eagle friends!

Its getting to be crunch time, folks!  We have FIVE more days before the first day of school!  We are past the half way mark!  I know that many of you are logging the old fashioned way, which is great!  But if everyone at OHE read 1-2 books this weekend, we would hit our goal of 1,500 books!

Log your books online here:

Have a great last few days of summer and see you at Eagle Encounter on Friday!

2 Weeks left of Summer– how is your reading? ;)

Happy August to you all!!  The summer is flying by we have 2 weeks left!
We have read about 500 books so far, Eagles!  Not quite halfway!
We have a lot more reading to do! Get those kids reading!!!  Remember to keep logging and more importantly keep your Eagles reading this summer (or read to them!). Our goal is 2500 books — this challenge is for incoming Pre-k through 5th graders AND current OHE faculty and parents! We know some of you are logging old school with pen and paper and that is totally cool!
***IMPORTANT NOTE:  Because we are counting PAGES READ this year, if you’re child is logging with pen and paper, PLEASE indicate TOTAL pages read! 🙂  THANK YOU!

All participants will be recognized, and grade level winners will get a special treat! 😉

Changes to this year’s Summer Reading Challenge

Hi Eagles!

Hope you are enjoying your first week of summer vacation!  There are few changes that I want to highlight for this year’s summer reading challenge:

-We are counting PAGES instead of books this year!  So for all you Harry Potter fans, rejoice! 😉

– Our OHE Summer Reading Challenge works great with the AISD #5BookDive!

To support success with the #5BookDive, all students now have the opportunity to access thousands of ebooks (in English and Spanish) through myON.com. MyON.com provides a quick interest and reading level inventory to guide students in finding books that they will love reading and can read on their own. MyON also provides audio and highlighting features to accommodate readers with comprehension.

Your student should have received a flyer. It will have the username and password needed to log on to the website.  All students attended an introductory class that logged them in, allowed them to complete a reading inventory to determine levels and interests.

We hope that your students will use this valuable resource over the summer. All of the books or pages read can count toward the Oak Hill Summer reading challenge.  Have a wonderful summer and happy reading!

Summer is here! It’s time to start reading!

Welcome to the 2016 OHE Summer Reading Challenge!  I look forward to seeing how our Eagles SOAR into great adventures and stories through great books!

Lets see if we can get to our school goal of 2,500 books!!  ALL participants will be recognized and Grade level winners will get a special lunch w Principal Komassa!
